BVA girls hold off Laurel Highlands

From the time the ball was tipped off to the time the final horn went off, Belle Vernon Area girls basketball coach Ronnie Drennen noticed a nonexistent energy from his team Wednesday night.
It played a factor, too, as BVA saw a 12-point halftime lead lessen to a five-point advantage midway through the fourth quarter.
However, much to their credit, the Leopards showed little trepidation and held on for a 65-52 nonsection victory over Laurel Highlands at Belle Vernon Area High School.
“I thought we lacked a little bit of energy from the start and that followed us through the entire game,” Drennen said.
