Westmoreland County Detectives’ investigation of a Monessen councilman’s alleged threats against the city’s mayor has concluded.
During a June 28 council meeting, Councilman Anthony Orzechowski asked those in attendance what it would take for them to get angry at Mayor Matt Shorraw for his absences, calling on them to grab their “torches and pitchforks … bang his house down, bang his door, hogtie him. I don’t care what you do.”
Not long after the meeting, which Shorraw did not attend, he filed a local police report claiming he was threatened by Orzechowski, ultimately leading to a county-level investigation by Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck’s office.
“That investigation that was requested by the mayor has been closed,” Peck said in a statement last week.
