Nellie Marie Weaver Sutch – Coal Center

Nellie M. Sutch, 84, of Coal Center, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Washington, Pa., daughter of the late Clyde and Ruth Hawkins Weaver. Nellie was a 1953 graduate of California High School. She was a lifelong member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Coal Center, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. For many years, she served as a leader of the Pike Run 4-H Club. A homemaker, she enjoyed flowers, especially carnations of all colors. She also enjoyed building puzzles, Sudoku, cutting her grass and most of all attending all of her grandchildren’s activities. On May 9, 1961, she married Wayne G. Sutch, who survives. They celebrated 57 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Wayne R. Sutch (Debbie) of Ellsworth, James C. Sutch (Donna) of Daisytown and Janet Mihalek of Clover Hill; eight grandchildren, Brandon and Jenn Weiss, Adam Sutch (Carley), Aaron Sutch (Christine), John Michael Mihalek, Trisha Mihalek, Austin Sutch and Maci Boord; one sister-in-law, Olga Weaver of Clover Hill; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents are a brother, Robert Weaver; a sister, Bernice Micjan; brother-in-law, Gerald Micjan; and special aunt, Edna Dawson. Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main St., Beallsville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, with Pastor Ken Custer officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Pike Run 4-H Club, c/o David Lowden, organizational leader, 136 California Drive, Coal Center, PA 15423.
