Seairra, “JiJi” and the kids.

It’s not the name of a new band, but the group was instrumental in the California University women’s basketball team knocking off upset-minded Seton Hill in a basketball matinee Monday at Cal U’s Convocation Center.

Seairra Barrett finished with 23 points and 16 rebounds, Jiahna Flood-Francis scored 14 of her 17 points in the second half and freshman Shauna Harrison added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the No. 15 Vulcans to a 66-59 win over the Griffins in PSAC West play.

Barrett moved into sixth place on the program’s all-time scoring list.

“For most of this game, and especially late in the second half, we had the two seniors and three freshmen on the floor,” Cal U coach Jess Strom said. “While to many they’re just freshmen, we see them every day and we know they can handle it. They all got great experience in a close game today.”
