Almost three months after allegedly lying to police about being robbed at gunpoint in North Charleroi, a preliminary hearing has been set for Carlo Daugherty Jr., 56, of Charleroi, who is being charged with false reports.
Charleroi Regional Police were approached by Daugherty around 4 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Lock No. 4 Volunteer Fire Company in North Charleroi, claiming he had been robbed at gunpoint near Double M’s Pizza.
He told police the suspects took his Gucci wallet with $1,200 inside and a Cricket cell phone, leaving him stranded in the borough because he was from McKees Rocks.
Daugherty told police the robbery occurred after he responded to an ad on Cragislist for a dirt bike, an affidavit of probable cause states.
