Amos L. ‘Toby’ Rager Sr. – Lincoln Borough

Amos L. “Toby” Rager Sr., 80, of Lincoln Borough, died Jan. 19, 2019. He was born in Fairmont, W.Va., on Jan. 26, 1938, son of the late Frank and Mildred Keener Rager. He was the sole proprietor of A and R Metal since 1978. He was a member of the Greater Works Church in Monroe- ville and the Western Pennsylvania Contest Riders. He loved to ride horses and his famous line to say was “Whip and Ride.” He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Roberta Winemiller Rager; children, Amos L. (Tina) Rager Jr. of Jeannette; Sherry (Timothy) Matthews of Rostraver Township; all of his favorite grandchildren, Frankie (Alicia) Rager of Jeannette, Amos “Toby” (Rachel) Rager III of Ruffsdale, Michele (Robbie) McQuaide of Fredericksburg, Pa., Lisa (Kandyce) Siegel of Grapeville, Pa., Raymond (Amber) Matthews of Pittsburgh, Charlie (Ashley) Matthews of Belle Vernon, Mandy (Chad) Rapp of Baldwin; great-grandchildren, Xander, Julian, Timothy, Evelyn, Greyson, Izaac, Brody and Mia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Lily Ann; and brothers, William and Francis “Tip” Rager. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, in the funeral home chapel with his nephew, Pastor William Franklin Rager Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery.
