Belle Vernon Area overcame a sluggish second half to put an end to its three-game losing streak with a 52-39 home-court victory over Ringgold in Section 3-4A play Thursday night.
The Leopards (8-6, 5-3) were narrowly outscored, 23-22, in the second half and committed 13 turnovers in the final 16 minutes.
“We struggled to score the ball in the second half and that was the complete opposite of our game Monday (against Elizabeth Forward),” BVA head coach Ronnie Drennen said. “It’s a credit to Ringgold because they defended us really well, rebounded and got stops.
“I thought tonight we could have done a better job of executing offensively and valuing the ball, but a win is a win.”
