After many decades at its current location on Fallowfield Avenue, Citizen’s Bank in Charleroi will downsize and relocate to a different block in the Magic City.
Work is currently being done to renovate a former store front in the 500 block of McKean Avenue.
According to a memo sent to customers by the company last week, the current location will close at 2 p.m. April 12 and re-open on McKean Avenue 9 a.m. April 15.
The total investment for the relocation is expected to be $500,000, according to Bisbano and Associates, the principal architect for the job.
During a Charleroi council meeting last week, a unanimous vote was passed to allow an Bisbano to install a handicap accessible ramp on the side walk in front of the plaza to make the entrance compliant with ADA standards.
The ramp will take up about 4 feet of the sidewalk, but will not impede walk through traffic, according to a letter from the architect.
Council passed the move unanimously pending review of the borough’s engineer and solicitor.
Councilman Larry Celaschi previously said the bank signed a five-year lease for the new location, which was formerly occupied by Bruno and Son’s Diner.
President Jerry Jericho previously said a tenant who currently occupies the upper level of the Fallowfield Avenue building could possibly be moving below, but nothing has been confirmed with council.
Citizen’s Bank has been in the Magic City for several decades and was formerly Mellon Bank.
