Rev. Andrew George Slade – North Huntingdon

Rev. Andrew George Slade, 86, of North Huntingdon, formerly of West Newton, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2019. He was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Monaca, son of the late Thomas and Mary Summers Slade. A graduate of Geneva College in Beaver Falls and the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, he was a minister for over 61 years. He was a member of West Newton United Presbyterian Church. The churches he served were Broadstreet UP Church, Detroit, Mich.; Bloomfield UP Church, New Concord, Ohio; Third Presbyterian Church, Wheeling, W. Va., for 17 years; and Calvary UP Church in Donora for 17 years, retiring in 1997, and named pastor emeritus. The Rev. Slade was a member and past president of the Donora Rotary Club, where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow, and past president of the Donora Historical Society. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Alexander Slade. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the J. WILLIAM MCCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME, 901 Vine St., West Newton, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary United Presbyterian Church, 800 Thompson Ave., Donora, followed by 11 a.m. services.
