Lena Marie Jurkiewicz – North Charleroi

Lena Marie Jurkiewicz, 93, of North Charleroi, passed away on Jan. 15, 2019. Born on June 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George Harry and Theresa Benedetti Mahan, and was raised by her late aunt Lena Benedetti Cain. She enjoyed Pirate’s baseball, harness racing at The Meadows and watching her grandson. She left school as a young lady to work in an armament plant during World War II. Lena is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Karen Jurkiewicz of Charleroi; grandson, Robert J. Jurkiewicz and wife Melissa of Irwin; grandchildren, Addison Grace and Max Robert Jurkiewicz; and several nieces and nephews, including Deborah Mahan of Monessen. In addition to her parents and aunt, she was predeceased by her husband, Chester Jurkiewicz, in 2000; and brothers, Laverne and Albert Mahan. As per Lena’s wishes, visitation and funeral services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.
