Eagles look to end skid against Jayhawks

A funny thing happened along the way to tonight’s highly anticipated showdown of titans in Section 2-2A between Serra Catholic and Jeannette.

The Jayhawks were stunned in their last game leading to the matchup, blowing a 24-point lead and bowing to California, 75-70, in a shocker Friday. That upset ruined an expected battle of unbeatens tonight.

As a result, the best the Jayhawks (8-5, 4-1) can hope for is a tie for the section lead by knocking off the host Eagles (9-2, 5-0) in the 7:30 p.m. tip.

“I wasn’t shocked, but I was upset,” Jeannette veteran coach Adrian Batts said of the loss to the Trojans. “I will never take anything away from California because their kids played hard and took it to us.
