Coming off two straight losses, Ringgold head coach Phil Pergola knew there’d be no problem with his team getting up for Friday’s rivalry game against Belle Vernon Area.

After nearly losing a 20-point lead, the Rams pulled away late for a 56-44 win over the Leopards to get back on the winning track.

“It happens for a lot of reasons. You get up big, then teams start chipping away. Then you force shots because you think you need to hurry and score … it kind of builds up on you,” Pergola said. “I think if this game was against anyone other than Belle Vernon, we might have folded there. But we were ready for this game and we got baskets when we needed them.”

Three Ringgold players hit double figures to lead their team to the win.

Luke Wyvratt finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, Demetrius Butler added 15 points of his own and Chris Peccon went for 14 points.
