Penn Hills throttles McKeesport

Facing a team that allows just 53 points per game might mean your offense will struggle to get things done.

That’s what happened to McKeesport Friday as the Tigers fell in Section 1-5A play to Penn Hills, 81-48. McKeesport had trouble finding offensive opportunities throughout the night, and head coach Kevin Kovach was not happy with how his team performed.

“They played great; we played terrible,” Kovach said. “We didn’t run our stuff, and that was the key to the game. We refused to run our offense, our defense  and we freelanced as we call it. And (Penn Hills) caused us to do that. They pressured and they can run with control.”

Penn Hills (10-2, 5-0) started strong with a 10-0 run over the first two minutes of the game. The Indians had an answer for everything McKeesport was running and didn’t allow the Tigers to make consecutive buckets in the quarter.
