Gov. Tom Wolf announced more than $2.6 million in Business-Education Partnership grants Thursday to 22 local workforce development boards, three of which serve the Mon Valley.
The grants, which are 100 percent federally funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act, connect businesses and schools to provide students with job training in high-growth fields and increase awareness of in-demand technical careers for students, parents, guardians, teachers and faculty.
The Business-Education Partnerships program provides career-related experiences and development opportunities through soft-skills development, internships, workplace shadowing and career mentoring to encourage more students to acquire the technical skills needed by employers.
Mon Valley workforce development boards will see more than $300,000 grant collectivly.
