More than a year after a local nonprofit organization announced it would be revitalizing the Mid Mon Valley Council of Governments, the group will meet for the first time this month.
The Mid Mon Valley Council of Governments will meet 6 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Mon Valley Alliance office, 1428 Delberts Lane, Monongahela.
Communities invited to attend will be those that have passed ordinances to join: Brownsville Township, Charleroi, California, Donora, Dunlevy, Fallowfield Township, Monongahela, Monessen and North Belle Vernon.
West Brownsville is expected to pass an ordinance to join later this month.
The Mon Valley Alliance is paying the dues for the initial year of operation and providing other services.
Communities still wishing to join will be accepted throughout this year at no cost, but officials must pass an ordinance first.
