Big players make big plays in big games and McKeesport’s Deamontae Diggs went above and beyond in his team’s 96-91 section loss at Woodland Hills Tuesday.
Diggs ripped the net for 42 points for the Tigers and set the school’s single-game record for points, last set in 1983 by Billy Leonard.
“That was a legit 40 points right there,” said McKeesport head coach Kevin Kovach. “He had maximum effort all night and he would not be denied. His effort going to the hoop was unbelievable and he was absolutely unstoppable tonight. They didn’t have an answer for him.”
After scoring just nine points in the first half, Diggs would find his groove putting up 33 points in the second half, including 15 in the third quarter, to help his team get back into the game.
