Holyoke College and the California State Teachers College. She was a board member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association and the Monessen Public Library. She was president of the Monessen teachers’ union and worked for better pay and benefits for teachers. Mrs. Farr taught in the Monessen Public School District for 30 years prior to her retirement. She cared deeply for the students she taught. Mrs. Farr touched many lives in her career, and is fondly remembered by many. Known for her sense of humor, Marge had a quick wit and a ready laugh, making her loved by all. She was a feminist before the word was popular and advocated for the rights of all. Marge was an avid reader and belonged to several book clubs, including the YMCA and the Monessen Public Library.  She also greatly enjoyed crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. “Bear” Farr and her daughter, Ann B. Farr. Surviving are her daughter, Susie Farr; son, Bob and wife Sally Farr; grandson, Matt; and step-granddaughter, Dana. Bob and Susie want to express their gratitude to the staff at the Residence at Hilltop for their loving care of Marge for many years. A celebration and reflection of the life of Mrs. Farr will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen.
