Mary T. Demeter – Monongahela

Mary T. Demeter, 91, of Monongahela, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019. She was born in Charleroi. A devoted wife and mother, Mary was committed to her family, always putting them first and making a beautiful home for them. She played the organ for a total of 50 years at various area churches. She began her career playing at St. Anthony’s Church in Monongahela, then at St. Cyril & Methodius Church in Charleroi, where she was a member of their Christian Mothers. She then played at St. Leonard’s Church in Monessen and retired from St. Hyacinth Church, also in Monessen. Mary was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Church in Monongahela. ​ She is survived by her beloved husband, Bernard S. Demeter; daughter, Stephanie and husband Chris Eberhardt; two grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Eberhardt; and two sisters, Ann and Helen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Bernadette Marie Demeter. ​Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at St. Damien of Molokai Church. Committal services and interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. ​Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com​.
