Mary P. Walter – Monongahela

Mary P. Walter, 93, of Monongahela, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, in Arden Courts, Jefferson Hills. She was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Joseph L. and Vera Veronica Margaret Lawrence Palmer. Mary was a graduate of South Hills High School, Class of 1944, and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi. She enjoyed playing in bridge clubs in Charleroi and Belle Vernon, spending time gardening her flowers, walking, reading and could be found spending her time in the local library. One of the highlights of her life was when she visited Ireland. She is survived by her son, W. Timothy Walter and his wife Stephanie of Bethel Park, and several nieces and nephews.​ In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Walter; brother, Benjamin J. Palmer and three sisters, Veronica Margaret “Peggy” Flake, Eileen Schlereth and Catherine Ponikvar.​ Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, with the Rev. Mark Woomer officiating.
