Gino D. Ferrara – Fayette City

Gino D. Ferrara, 88, of Fayette City, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019. Born in Monessen on Sept. 25, 1930, he was the son of the late Enrico and Algisa Ferrara. Gino was a steelworker and worked at the U.S. Steel Irvin Works for 40 years. He was a member of the Fayette City Volunteer Fire Company, the CAS Ambulance Service, the American Legion and was a board member of Center on the Hill. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1948 to 1951; then he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1951 to 1954. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Mae Jolley Ferrara; sons, Robert (Marsha) Ferrara and Ronald (Tracey) Ferrara; daughter, Mary Jane (Douglas) Peters; grandchildren, Sheryl Lehnhardt, Suzanne Kruppa, Emily Dunn and Hunter Ferrara; great-grandchildren, Maria, Gio, Felicia and Laila Kruppa, Laurel Lehnhardt and Wyatt Dunn; and a sister, Sylvia Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Douglas Peters, and brothers, Albert and Barto Ferrara. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Ken Sommerfeldt officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
