Donora seeks answers from sewage authority

Donora borough’s solicitor and council members want to know more about what is going on at the Mon Valley Sewage Authority.
Ever since Donora resident Ruth Koontz’ basement started flooding with sewage after heavy rains last year, borough officials have taken a much closer look at the authority.
Officials have sought an answer to what has caused the repeated flooding to the Koontz home on Gilmore Street and have gotten varied responses.
In particular, the authority has cast some blame on the borough for allegedly not enforcing an ordinance that requires residents to disconnect downspouts from the sanitary sewer system.
