Editorial: Aquatorium concerts would be missed
Rockin’ on the Mon has become a summer tradition at the Monongahela Aquatorium, but that annual concert series and other events at the venue may be in jeopardy.
Monongahela Aquatorium Innovations, the nonprofit organization that runs the facility, finished 2018 with a budget deficit, city Councilwoman Claudia Williams revealed in an end-of-year report to council. Williams, a volunteer and organizer with the group, added that it hasn’t been decided if it will continue to operate this year.
She pinpointed the problem to a pair of rain-soaked October events that she said had poor attendance because “the weather killed us.”
