State police release holiday weekend enforcement results

State police on Wednesday released its statewide enforcement statistics for the New Year’s holiday weekend.
Troop B, which encompasses Allegheny, Fayette and Washington counties and portions of Westmoreland County, including Smithton, West Newton, North Belle Vernon, Monessen and Interstate 70 in the Mid-Mon Valley, responded to 43 vehicle accidents between Saturday and Tuesday.
Of those crashes, one resulted in a fatality while the victim was wearing a seatbelt. Another 10 people were injured in accidents, state police said.
Although four crashes were deemed alcohol-related, the fatal accident was not one of them.
