George C. Edwards, 93, of California, Pa., died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019. He was born Monday, Jan. 12, 1925, in California, Pa., a son of the late George H. Edwards and the late Mary Humes Edwards. George proudly served in the Navy during World War II onboard the U.S.S. Terror. He retired as a welder from Welland Chemical in Newell. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Edwards, on April 9, 2018; son, Brad Edwards; grandson, Bradlee Dean; sisters Dorothy Mussar, Adellade Bastian and Louise Cassin; and brothers, Bill Edwards and Leslie “Lucky” Edwards. Left to cherish his memory are three children, Virginia Prosba of Marietta, Ga., Craig Edwards of California, Pa., and Georgene Dean and husband Marvin of Bentleyville, Pa. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Debra Prosba, James Prosba, James Burnett and wife Amber, Kirsten Mahoney and husband Dan, Allison Testa and husband Angelo, Wesley Dean and Alex Dean; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Prosba and wife Jennifer, Enzo and Rocco Testa and Charlotte Burnett; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Prosba. Friends will be received at MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, Pa., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with pastor Brian Downes officiating. Interment will be private in Lafayette Memorial Park.
