John M. “Jack” Fawcett Sr. – Monongahela

John M. “Jack” Fawcett Sr., 90, of Monongahela, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018. Jack was a long-term employee of U.S. Steel, retiring from the Clairton Works in August 1991 after 27 years. He had resided in Carroll Township since 1964, where he supported the Scouting movement, coached Little League and was a life member of the American Legion. He was also a longtime member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Monongahela. Jack served in the U.S. Army in Japan and Italy, as well as the Pennsylvania National Guard for many years. Jack is survived by brothers, James and William Fawcett as well as his son, John M. Fawcett Jr., Lt. Col., USAF (ret.) and wife Susan of Colorado Springs, Colo. His daughter-in-law, Elizabeth A. Fawcett, is also a resident of Carroll Township. Jack and his late wife, Anna Mae, have four surviving grandchildren: Elizabeth Griffin and husband Jason Davis of Portland, Ore.; Jeffrey N. Fawcett Jr. and wife Amy of Chesapeake, Va.; Jacqueline Fawcett of Ashburn, Va., and Sgt. John M. Fawcett III of Fort Bragg, N.C. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Faye and Jack, and many loving friends and family. His wife of more than 60 years, Anna Mae (Noel) Fawcett, originally of Latrobe, preceded him in death in 2017, as did his youngest son, Jeffrey Noel Fawcett Sr., Major, USAF (ret.), of Chantilly, Va., in 2016 and one grandchild, Steven, who is interred with his father, Jeffrey, in Arlington National Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767. A service will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
