Members of the Belle Vernon Area School District administration have joined the fight to reform public school funding and are calling on their colleagues and community to follow suit.
Acting Superintendent Dr. Michele Dowell and school board Director Kathleen Forte recently attended the inaugural Regional Pennsylvania Schools Work Summit in Pittsburgh.
A nonpartisan statewide movement, PA Schools Work seeks to bring together educators, school board directors, parents and others from urban, suburban and rural communities to advocate for public schools, their students and the communities they serve.
“PA Schools Work is fighting for equitable, adequate funding necessary to support educational excellence,” Forte said during a school board meeting last week. “Research shows education funding directly affects student achievement.”
