McKeesport honors Vietnam veterans

To celebrate Veterans Day on its official date, Nov. 11, the City of McKeesport honored 25 veterans Sunday who said they never heard the phrase “welcome home” after serving in Vietnam.

The Vietnam-era Veterans Pinning Ceremony, held at the Palisades, was organized through a partnership between Mayor Michael Cherepko’s office and the offices of state Sen. Jim Brewster, D-McKeesport, and U.S. Congressman Mike Doyle, D-Forest Hills.
