Boerio, Reschenthaler seek 14th Congressional District seat

By Stacy Wolford

By JEFF STITT
jstitt@yourmvi.com
Voters in Washington, Fayette and Greene counties and about two-thirds of Westmoreland County residents were left a bit confused as to what district they would be a part of after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court adopted a new congressional district map earlier this year.
All Mid-Mon Valley municipalities located in Westmoreland County are a part of the 14th.
The new 14th District covers a lot of the same ground as the old 18th District, where Democrat Conor Lamb won a special election in an upset in March.
Lamb is now running to represent the 17th Congressional District against Republican U.S. Rep. Keith Rothfus.
Vying to become the first congressional representative for the newly-formed 14th District are Democrat Bibiana Boerio of Latrobe and Republican Guy Reschenthaler of Peters Township.
Boerio, 64, worked for Ford Motor Co. for 30 years and retired as chief financial officer for Ford’s credit company and director of Jaguar Cars in England.
After retirement, Boerio served as the chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak from 2008-11.
She then led a project for the Detroit Chamber of Commerce, and then served as the interim president at Seton Hill University in Greensburg from 2013-14.
Boerio got her undergraduate degree from Seton Hill College and a master’s of business of administration from the University of Pittsburgh Business School.
Reschenthaler, 35, is a state senator for the 37th District.
Reschenthaler graduated from Penn State’s Behrend Campus and attended law school at Duquesne University, after which he served as a U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General Corps and volunteered for duty in Iraq where he made daily trips into the Red Zone and prosecuted nearly 100 terrorists.
He served as a Navy lawyer in Norfolk, Va., and in Texas and Oklahoma.
