Valley overwhelmed by water

On the heels of Tropical Storm Gordon, heavy rains and widespread flooding devastated parts of the Mid-Mon Valley Monday.
After issuing a hazardous weather warning this past weekend for parts of Allegheny, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland counties, the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh put out a new series of alerts as area rivers finally crested early Monday evening. The alert extended flood warnings until 5 a.m. today.
