A 26-year-old Donora man accused of sexually assaulting a 2-year-old child was jailed on $250,000 straight bond Thursday.
Charles Kimmel of Strawberry Way was arraigned Thursday afternoon in front of Magisterial District Judge Mark Wilson on three counts each of sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age.
According to Donora Officer Keith Charlton, on April 19, a borough resident reported that Kimmel was seen on a “nanny cam,” (security camera) “performing questionable acts on a 2-year-old girl.”
In an affidavit of probable cause, Charlton said the video showed Kimmel performing a sex act on the child three times. On May 24, Kimmel came to the police station to talk about the incident, the complaint states.
Charlton wrote in the affidavit that he played the video for Kimmel and “asked him if he could help me understand what I was viewing and why he was doing the things I was seeing in the video.”
Kimmel allegedly told the officer that he was doing those things because “he doesn’t have a girlfriend.”
Charlton wrote that Kimmel blamed the girl’s mother for his actions because “she was not properly supervising him while he was around her daughter.”
Kimmel is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 19 in front of Wilson and he remains lodged in Washington County Correctional Facility.
