Master Daniel Obusek’s students will kick for a cause Friday during a Kick-a-thon fundraiser benefiting the Naomi Outreach women’s group.
The group, comprised of Mid-Mon Valley widows, sponsors a veterans’ luncheon twice annually at the Hibachi Buffet in Rostraver Township, said Naomi Outreach founder Joni Kelley.
“It’s just a wonderful thing for Master Dan to want to help us help our veterans,” Kelley said. “Veterans are very close to the heart of the Naomi Outreach and we have about 30 to 40 that regularly attend the luncheon.”
Obusek, owner of Performance Martial Arts and Fitness in North Belle Vernon, has hosted many Kick-a-thons for such causes as cystic fibrosis, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
For each fundraiser, Obusek said, his students seek sponsors willing to pledge monetary donations based on the number of times they kick a target.
