State grants awarded for local projects

Several legislators representing Mon Valley communities announced state funding for projects around the area Tuesday, along with grants for local fire departments to purchase much-needed equipment. The local community ventures were among 244 new projects totaling more than $105.6 million approved through the Commonwealth Financing Authority, according to state Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger.
