Anna Gesmond – White Oak

By obits

Anna Gesmond, of White Oak, danced her way through Heaven’s gate on Feb. 24, 2024. She was promised by family that her actual age would not be disclosed. She was born Oct. 1 in White Oak, Pa., sometime around when jazz and swing music was hip. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Antonine Rogalski Morris. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Dick” Gesmond; grandson, William Sensor II; and siblings. Anna was always very active throughout her life. She held various jobs from banquet manager to seamstress to owning her own businesses. She was very creative and designed most of her own outfits. She was an avid Steelers fan, loved to go dancing with a good country band, polka band or dance to a “whiskey” song with a good beat. She was an avid baker and was known for her pizzelles and nut rolls. Surviving are her children, Anthony (Linda) Gesmondi of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Yvonne (Kenny) Ragan of McKeesport, Debi (Marty) McAndrew of Bonita Springs, Fla., and John (Dana) Gesmond Jr. of Englewood, Fla.; grandchildren, Anthony, Amanda, Joshua, David, Fedela, Georgianna, Deanna, Cody, Brandon (Chelsea), Tanya, Melissa, John III and Jalina (Rob); 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her best friend, Ann, and her loving boyfriend, John Yaklich, who for the last 28 years was her amazing dance partner, and he treated her like a queen. Family and friends are welcome at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES INC., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177) from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Round Hill Cemetery.
