Report on blighted building in Donora finds lead-based paint

Compliance Field Services has given Donora its preliminary report on the blighted building at 647 McKean Ave. and had a couple surprising results. CFI was hired by the borough to conduct an asbestos survey, which is required by the Occupational Safety and Health Act and protects all employees who are on a job site from potential exposure. The building has to be demolished, and CFI told council at a meeting last fall that tackling potential environmental factors ahead of time could bring down the cost of demolition and encourage more companies to bid on that work.
