Another Shoulder offers hope to cancer patients

When Larry Bridges endured his first bout of cancer in 2017, he wasn’t aware of the bell-ringing tradition for those who finish chemotherapy or radiation treatment. “The whole time I’m in the hospital, the nurses are telling me, ‘Mr. Bridges, you’re gonna ring the bell,’” Bridges said. “I’m looking at them — bell? What bell? I had no idea what the bell was.” After he received his final treatment, Bridges rang the bell with three teary-eyed nurses — or angels as he refers to them — by his side as he realized the importance of the tradition. “I said, ‘Oh, my god, this is beautiful,’” Bridges recalled.
