This year’s election cycle featured a large number of uncontested races throughout the Mon Valley, including a fair amount of races that didn’t even have enough candidates.
Here’s a look at those races, and some others as the Mon Valley Independent continues general election coverage. All results are unofficial until certified by the election bureaus.
Allegheny County
Elizabeth Borough
In Elizabeth Borough, there were three open council seats and three candidates.
Incumbents Desiree Gephart, a Republican who earned 157 votes, and President Timothy Guffey, a Democrat who earned 160 votes, earned new terms.
Democrat Jason Berman earned 143 votes Tuesday and will join the incumbents when the new term begins in January.
Incumbent Karen Turner did not file to run for reelection.
Glassport
In Glassport Borough, there were four, four-year terms open and four Democratic incumbents seeking reelection.
