McKeesport OK’s teacher’s deal, union must ratify it

McKeesport Area School Board unanimously approved a one-year contract between the district and McKeesport Area Education Association Wednesday night, but the deal must be ratified by the union.
The contract would be effective from Sept. 1, 2023 through Aug. 31, 2024.
McKeesport teachers have been working without a contract since Aug. 31. Earlier this month, the McKeesport Area Education Association voted unanimously to authorize a teachers’ strike, saying they would call for a strike if a contract agreement wasn’t reached in the “near future.”
