Pa. considers earlier date for 2024 primary election

Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives passed a bill on Thursday to hold the state’s 2024 presidential primary election three weeks earlier. The bill was approved in a 102-100 vote that fell completely on party lines. The effort to move the primary date from April 23 to April 2 faces an uncertain future in the Senate, as Senate Republicans have pushed legislation to move the primary election to March 19, saying it would give voters in swing states more influence. The state Senate is scheduled to reconvene Oct. 16.
