Keeping it cool in the pool: Heat wave hits the Mon Valley as temperatures are expected to soar
By the MVI
With a two-day stretch of temperature highs in the 90s expected to start today, people around the Mon Valley are looking for ways to beat the heat.
Temperatures in the region will reach 90 degrees for the next few days this week, according to the National Weather Service. With humidity, the heat index Friday will likely be in the mid-to-upper-90s.
The National Weather Service said a few isolated showers could develop this afternoon.
At the Pine Cove Beach Club and RV Resort in Fallowfield Township, a line of members wrapped around the entrance to find their spot Wednesday morning before the pool opened.
Public pools around the area were also packed.
Relief is on the way, as cooler, more seasonable temperatures are expected for Saturday and next week.
