Harvest Bounty organizers are ready for a big event this weekend.
An annual craft and vendor show helps to keep the shelves stocked for the program that benefits children in the Charleroi Area School District.
The Harvest Bounty’s biggest annual fundraiser will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the cafeteria and gymnasium of the elementary center. This year there are more vendors than ever before.
The Harvest Bounty program is run by volunteers in the district to supply nonperishable breakfast and lunch foods, fruit and snacks for students in kindergarten through eighth grades to take home every Friday.
Packed and distributed by life skills students, the program helps feed nearly 230 students on the weekends during the school year.
Harvest Bounty volunteer and elementary center librarian Becky Spiker said the program’s vendor show has grown each year. She said many participants look forward to the event to take care of special occasion shopping and new items for themselves and their homes for spring.
There are 52 vendors this year, ranging in products, styles and tastes.
