Among several discussions by Rostraver Township Commissioners during Wednesday’s meeting, several young members of the audience were most excited about the last item on the agenda — the announcement of the township’s water pollution poster contest winners and a pizza party to follow.
As part of their Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program, the commissioners invited fourth-grade students from Rostraver and Marion elementary schools to submit entries for their newest poster contest that focused on water pollution.
The township’s MS4 program and the poster contest serve to educate and engage kids on responsible environmental behavior.
In its third year, the contest has continued to expand.
This year the township received 68 entries from students in Jennifer Barkey’s class at Rostraver Elementary and Sarah Murphy’s class at Marion.
