Squawk raised in Donora over chicken coops

Donora council discussed a potential ordinance dealing with chicken coops in the borough at Thursday’s meeting. Councilwoman Jane Ackerman got a phone call from a resident who said her neighbor’s chickens have taken up home in the neighborhood. “I had a phone call over the weekend from a lady,” Ackerman said. “I guess her neighbor, a few doors down, keeps chickens. And the roosters were in her backyard crowing and waking her up at seven o’clock in the morning. She said the chickens can come and go as they please, so they’re all over the neighborhood.”
