Rostraver hires new full-time police officer

Dozens of Rostraver Township firefighters, police officers and first responders attended Wednesday night’s commissioner’s meeting to celebrate a new police officer being hired.
Commissioners hired township native Benjamin Bamford as a full-time officer during last night’s voting meeting.
Bamford has been a volunteer at the Rostraver Central Fire Department for years and recently graduated from Westmoreland County Community College’s police academy.
Board President Jeffrey Johnson thanked first responders at the meeting, praising their work in the community.
“Today, we’re going to do something a little different, because we have a special hiring going on,” Johnson said. “So instead of reading the stats that I normally read, I just want to say thank you to all of you who are here.
