Before Santa jumps on his sleigh Christmas Eve for his world tour, he will hitch rides on some Mid-Mon Valley fire trucks to visit children.
Since the 1930s, several fire departments have been chauffeuring Santa Claus around on the days leading to Christmas.
It is a long-standing tradition firefighters and children look forward to each year.
The North Belle Vernon Fire Department is providing one such experience for families in the area Friday starting at 6 p.m. until they make stops on every road in North Belle Vernon. According to Assistant Fire Chief Shelby Ferguson, a few fire trucks will be on the streets with one including Santa Claus himself.
