Elizabeth Twp. surprised by water rate hike

The timing of Pennsylvania American Water’s $138 million revenue increase settlement could be especially troubling for municipalities that own sewage systems but send wastewater to PAWC as bulk customers. Elizabeth Township fits that description, and this year it paid $525,000 to PAWC’s McKeesport plant to treat wastewater from residents who live on the Boston side of the township.
