Barry Thomas Bindi

FORMERLY OF ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather, Barry Thomas Bindi, on Sept. 3, 2026, at the HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla. He was born on April 19, 1945, to the late Thomas P. Bindi and Barbara James Bindi in Monongahela and was a 1963 graduate of the former Rostraver High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education and his Master of Science in Biology from the former California State University. He taught high school science, biology and chemistry and coached football at Brentwood High School. He transitioned to a long career in health physics by accepting a position with the U.S. DOE’s UMTRCA remediation project in Canonsburg, followed by leading Westinghouse Corp.’s radiation safety and health program and later managed the Safety and Ecology Corp.’s radioactive cleanup activities, inclusive of the world-renowned Oak Ridge, Tenn. site. Raised Baptist, Barry was received into the Catholic Church and was a longtime member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver. He was a life-long lover of fast cars and was an extremely well-read man, especially of meteorology and astronomy. An avid outdoorsman, he also loved camping with his family, fishing on a boat, good movies and authentic Italian food. He retired to Punta Gorda, Fla., with his teenage sweetheart and wife of nearly 62 years, Patricia Marlene Merella Bindi, who survives and was steadfast in her love, care and devotion to him during his final years. Survivors also include their two sons, Thomas D. (Jennifer) of Howard, Ohio, and B. Gene (Giovanna) of Woolwich Twp, N.J.; three grandsons, Michael Gene of Columbus, Ohio, Matthew James (Jessica) of Lansing, Mich., and Giacomo Antonio of Woolwich Twp, N.J.; a sister- in-law, Virginia Darlene Prentice Murray of Rostraver; and many nieces, nephews
