BVA boys remain unbeaten, EF and Charleroi win again

Belle Vernon’s boys golf team remained unbeaten on the season with a 199-217 win over visiting Connellsville Tuesday at Cedarbrook Golf Course.

Jordan Mocello took home medalist honors for the Leopards, shooting a team-low 38 on the Gold Course’s Back 9.

Seth Tomalski shot a 39, Jack Edwards carded a 40, and Donnie Croftcheck and Landon Vaccaro each finished at 41 for Belle Vernon (6-0, 4-0).

The Falcons (4-2, 2-1) were led by Eli Armstrong’s 41. Ethan Porreca and Matthew Firestone each finished with 42s.

The Leopards are back in section action Monday at Albert Gallatin.

Bishop Canevin 217, Serra Catholic 240

Serra Catholic was downed by the Crusaders Tuesday in a Section 7-2A matchup at Youghigheny Country Club.

Kody Kraeuter did grab medalist honors for the Eagles, though, shooting a 37 to lead all scorers. Teammate Gino Emanuele added a 42 for Serra Catholic.

Jamin Brock led Bishop Canevin with a 40. The Eagles host Steel Valley Thursday.

South Allegheny 245, Steel Valley 338 South Park 239, South Allegheny 245

The Gladiators picked up a split in a threeway match against Steel Valley and South Park Tuesday in Section 7-2A play.

South Allegheny’s Josh Nesky took home medalist honors overall, carding a 41 to lead all golfers.

Noah Cortes added a 47 for South Allegheny.

Three golfers – Ryan Spitznagel, Cole Tumas and Kegan Fekety each shot a 46 for South Park.

Connor Dulu led the Ironmen with a 58. South Allegheny faces neighboring McKeesport in non-section action today.

Charleroi 218, Geibel 245

Levi Large carded a low round of 41 to lead the Cougars (3-1, 3-1) to a win over visiting Geibel in a Section 8-2A match at Mon Valley Country Club.

Jackson Keranko shot a 43 and Jake Corrin a 44 for Charleroi.

Mike Miller led the Gators (0-3, 0-3) with a 47.

Charleroi will tee off today at 3 p.m. in a non-section match against Jefferson-Morgan at MVCC.

Eliz. Forward 198, Frazier 221 Aaron Didjunas shot a 34 and Lucas Boyer a 39 to lead the Warriors over the Commodores (1-2, 1-1) in Section 8-2A play.

Blake Hvozdik and Julien Hredocik added a 40 and 41 to the EF team scorecard.

For the Commodores, Dylan Keilbach led the way with a 41. Aidan Hardy, Travis Smith and Eli Cernuska each shot 43s.

EF will host Greensburg Central Catholic today in non-section play. The Commodores will travel to Charleroi Thursday.

McGuffey 202, Yough 251

Josh Rusmisel (38), Logan Crowe (40) and Jacob Ealy (40) led the way for the Highlanders as they picked up a non-section win at the Madison Club over the Cougars.

Landon O’Donnell led the Cougars with a 46. Sydney Scherich added a 49.

Yough travels to Seton LaSalle Thursday in a Section 8-2A match Thursday.

Girls Elizabeth Forward 181, Hempfield 199

Mya Morgan continued her torrid play with a 34 and Sydney Boyd chipped in with a 44 to lead the unbeaten Warriors to a Section 3-3A win at Hempfield.

Milana Yannascoli (46) and Kat Devito (48) were low scorers for the Spartans.

Elizabeth Forward (5-0, 3-0) travels to Connellsville Friday for a section matchup.
