Black, Zubovic excited about Mercyhurst’s move to Division I

With Mercyhurst University’s athletics moving up to Division I, two local recruits are excited about the challenges and opportunities that a new conference will offer. Zach Black, a shortstop for Serra Catholic’s baseball team, and Ava Zubovic, a shortstop for Belle Vernon’s softball team, both committed to the Lakers as members of the PSAC in NCAA Division II. Before Thursday, only the university’s men’s and women’s ice hockey teams played at the DI level, with 24 other teams playing in DII.
