Monongahela’s active transportation planning committee kept rolling along Monday with an open meeting at the city fire hall.
Local residents and officials joined steering committee members to brainstorm ideas for walking, biking and wheeling improvements in the city and reviewed resident feedback from a recent survey.
“This plan and this committee go beyond physical or material improvements in Mon City,” said EADS Group Community Planner and steering committee member Mark Lazzari. “We’re trying to build enthusiasm, trying to encourage a sense of ownership and awareness in the community.”
The Monongahela Main Street Program received a $25,000 grant from Pennsylvania’s WalkWorks program in October to create the committee. The state program is run by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Downtown Center.
