Teachers at Ringgold Middle School received a pleasant surprise Tuesday.

Student Haley Clark, 14, made a surprise donation of 67 care packages to teachers as part of her community service to earn the Girl Scouts Silver Award.

The care packages contain hand sanitizers, masks, pens, pencils, notebooks, gift certificates, ChapStick, tea, coffee and other teachers’ supplies.

Haley is a member of Ringgold Troop 52419 and has been a Girl Scout since she was 5 years old.

Haley said she chose to give the packages to the teachers when she learned they have to buy their own supplies.

“For the Silver Award, you help your community in any shape or form,” Haley said. “You get to explore your community and find problems. In this case, it was a problem with teachers buying supplies.”
